GHOST (AFTER THE WHITE WOLF IN GAME OF THRONES)
I ACQUIRED HER IN PART EX FOR THE SILVER AUTO
her bodywork is clean enough although she does need a damn good wash inside and out
so first thing is jet wash the bay and all the dirty places
Previous owner wanted his stereo so that is why there is a gaping hole in the dash
also that horrid steering wheel cover has to go
mohair hood just needs a good clean and refurb with some die and protector
Zoom elan rear lights are quite rare so off they come and have since been sold. i do like them but money is required to pay for other works on her
Also a half tidy set of watanabe wheels and matching wheel nuts these also have been sold to add to the fund
passenger seat has some rips but i am thinking as i have a full mk2 interior including full leather seats, this might have a dash swap
more rare ... sun glasses holder
light lids had been touched up badly and as i had a spare pair i thought id paint them along with a new petrol cap cover
there much nicer
Oh my ohlins shocks are worth a tidy penny
the only other work i have done so far is a service as i have been super busy
i now have the complete dash out of the scraper mk2 so its decide time in or not
i now have the complete dash out of the scraper mk2 so its decide time in or not
so the mk1 mk2 dash swap starts...
starting with seats out then dash and carpit
hardest part of this is all the aftermarket wires wrapped all over the old dash.
time to swap the lm from the mk1 over to the mk2.
some modding of the lm is required ie an earth point on both ends is needed so drilling and screwing that in place first
the lom fits back in as it came from the mk1 dash.
some modding of the lom will be needed for the
ac
heaters
window switches
pop up lights
lighter
hazard switches
i will cover those when the dash is in

Ok dash is in the car, granted not fitted but its in woo hoo
you can see the new sofer mk2 carpet has been fitted before any dashness happens
you can see the new sofer mk2 carpet has been fitted before any dashness happens
fitting the dash is just the reversal of removing the mk1 dash which was 2 10 mm bolts each side and 2 bolts each side of the centre console and finally 1 on the top center.
here you can see i have refitted the mk1 cluster the dash just needs a slight cutout for the speedo cable to pass back in to the cluster and then screw it in place with the top screws only before pushing home the surround i have removed the air bag and will look at a way to make this a glove box

along with the dsh you will need the centre console, both windscreen plastics and the rubber that goes across the screen as they are different on the mk1 and mk2.
i have used the carpet and seats also as the seats are black leather

on to switch modding
the window switches are a case of try and error but when you look at them its quite obvious

the hazard switch is just an earth on the mk1 so i just found 2 wires on the mk2 switch that made a contact and connected the 2 from the mk1 switch
the pop up i cut a hoe in the mk2 mirror switch and customized the pop up switch to fit and stretched the wires over
the pop up i cut a hoe in the mk2 mirror switch and customized the pop up switch to fit and stretched the wires over
the heater plugs are the same however the wires are fitted in different places so you need to cut the mk2 plug of and solder the wires colour for colour back on
while using the red and black single plug for the illumination.
the ac works on a switch to earth to come on so this was wired up including a new feed for the illumination.. if you need help ask as i have all my notes.
ciggy lighter needs lengthening so i cut the mk2 loom with the plug and added 2 spades to the cables this was fitted and wired up
next the clock i used the earth live and switched live from the radio to power the clock and its illumination
lighting for the footwell will be needed next

LED's from kitchen downlighters have been used along with 2 single leds in the sun visor holders
